As many of you know, Spartronics builds a new robot from scratch each year to compete in a brand-new competition. All of the new materials and parts easily add up in costs, and Spartronics is also in a unique position where we do not receive any funding from the schools (however, we do receive access to wonderful facilities!), this requires us to fundraise each year. One member explained it like this; “People on the marketing team like to say that everyone else wouldn’t be able to build a robot if we didn’t have the funds that marketing procured. One of the main ways that we procure funds is through our community sponsorships.”
One of the main sponsorship events is the Walkabout, where we go around town telling businesses about FIRST, STEAM, and robotics. In addition, we explain to them why we need their support.
This past Monday and Wednesday, we’ve have been visiting both past sponsors and new ones. And it has been very successful! If you are interested in helping us provide STEAM education to high schoolers around the Island.
