We want YOU to join us! Pick one of our five subteams and learn valuable skills that can be applied in the REAL world. You will learn how to use industry-grade machines, programs, platforms and techniques, even business and marketing experience! You will also gain leadership experience, lifelong friendships and the opportunity to experience the thrill of FRC competitions.
There is no requirement to have any previous experience in STEAM or robotics. We will teach you all the required skills throughout the year as we build our new robot. All we ask is a can-do attitude, an open mind, and that you be in any island high school or something equivalent.
We meet every Wednesday before Kickoff from 6-8 PM. Kickoff is in early January. That is when the game is unveiled and the build season starts!
After Kickoff, we meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 4-8 PM. We understand it might be hard to attend all of our meetings, so there is no requirement to attend all of them, even just attending a part of a meeting makes a big difference! We meet in the BHS 100 Building, Room 103.

The builders of the robot. Mechanics work hands-on to assemble and repair all physical components, from the chassis to each mechanism. After getting the design from the Design Team, Mechanics begins to build the robot’s mechanisms, frame, following the design. Since everything is built from scratch, this is an intensive process of machining, measuring and making sure everything fits tolerances. If you enjoy using tools, solving problems on the fly, and getting things done, this is the team for you.
The planners and creators of the robot’s blueprint. Using CAD software and creative thinking, Design turns ideas into precise 3D models that guide the build. As soon as the season’s game is unveiled, Design is off to the races to design a robot that fits the goals of our strategy committee. Once they finish, they hand over the design to Mechanics and work with them to build the robot’s frame and mechanisms. If you enjoy engineering challenges, creativity, and attention to detail, you’ll fit right in.
The power and control hub. Electronics members wire the robot, manage sensors, and ensure every motor and mechanism gets the right power at the right time. After Mechanics finishes with the mechanisms, chassis and frame, Electronics takes over to wire each piece together, ensuring everything that needs power gets power. You will learn how to wire machinery, build circuits and swerve drives and learn how to implement pistons. If you’re into circuits, hardware troubleshooting, or neat cable management, this is your zone.
The robot’s brain. Programming brings the machine to life through code, enabling autonomous movement and precise controls. After Electronics finishes, Programming gets the robot to test auto paths, controls, and mechanism code. Auto paths are for the autonomous period of a match, where robots move on their own. Actions are worth more points, which is why it is important to get these paths fluid and fast. You will learn how to code in a variety of programming languages and how to successfully deploy and debug code. If you love problem-solving, logic, and turning “what if” into “watch this,” this is for you.
Marketing handles all fundraising of the team, our social media, our pit design, our website and YouTube, our posters, our merch and our community outreach. You will learn valuable business skills, video editing and filming skills, photography, website design and maintenance, and organization skills. If you are interesting in business, content creation, video editing, public speaking, communication or writing, Business and Marketing is the subteam for you.
