Mechanics and Design

Mechanics leadership were working on training new members on the machines in our shop.

Design leadership were working on teaching Computer Aided Design to our new members.

Below is one of our mechanics members talking more in-depth about their work.

Q: “Can you tell me what Mechanics and Design are working on tonight?”

A: “Sure, yeah, we’re just doing machine overviews for the band saw, the drill press, and then we might go into a little bit about like overview of the mill and the lathe, maybe the water jet. But today’s kind of just an overview of like, the different tools we use, and tool training. Design with mechanics is gonna go start to learn about the beginning design processes for build season.”

Programming

Programming was hard at work this meeting, as they were very busy teaching new programmers about Java and programming principles.

They were also working with electronics to fix last year’s robot, NEMESIS. Below is a conversation from one of our Marketers to a Programmer.

Q: “What is programming working on today?”

A: “Yeah, so we’ve started by talking to electronics. Trying to see if we’ve found anything wrong there, and we couldn’t really find anything at first, and so now we’re working on this programming here, seeing what errors are getting in and then we’re gonna, you know, look those up in our manuals and see what we can figure out.”

Electronics/Pneumatics

New members were practicing wiring circuits, while others were working hard fixing last year’s robot, NEMESIS.

Q: “Can you tell me what Electronics is up to today?”

A: “So we’re currently debugging an issue with one of our robots involving the Robo Rio and how it’s connecting to a radio and how’s connecting to our program computer. This is one of the points where electronics and programming kind of have to work together since we aren’t sure which side the area is on, so we’re kind of working together and figuring it out.”

Business and Marketing

In this meeting, we discussed fundraising options, took photos, interviewed subteams, began writing the newsletter, took videos, and started work on a brand-new brochure! We also published this blog post!
